Sports physiotherapy focuses on preventing and treating injuries in athletes at every level – from recreational to elite sport. Alongside recovery from the injury itself, we look at the underlying cause, your training load and the demands your sport places on your body, so that you can get back to it safely and as quickly as possible.
Sports physiotherapy may consist of:
- treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries: from sprained ankles to muscle and tendon injuries
- sport-specific rehabilitation: a training build-up aimed at a safe return to your own sport and level
- injury prevention: advice on training build-up, technique and load capacity
- performance improvement: targeted training of strength, speed and endurance
Sports physiotherapy at our practice is provided by Sebastiaan Straetemans MSc, a master sports physiotherapist. Sebastiaan has extensive experience in sport at the highest level: he works with footballers in the Netherlands and abroad, is part of the medical team of the Rotterdam Marathon, and spent several years supporting athletes at Haag Atletiek.
