Physiotherapy is reimbursed by most Dutch health insurers through supplementary insurance. For a number of conditions – such as intermittent claudication, axial spondyloarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis with severe functional limitations – reimbursement is available under the basic health insurance, subject to conditions. Supervised exercise therapy for osteoarthritis of the hip or knee is also reimbursed under the basic insurance: up to 12 sessions per 12 months. Please bear in mind that reimbursements from the basic insurance may count towards your compulsory excess (eigen risico). We have contracts with all Dutch health insurers, which means we invoice your treatment directly to your insurer.
